Blood donation camp was held on 28th of July 2009 at the Pitakumbura Navodya School in  Bibile in Sri Lanka. The event is annually organized. Pioneers of the project is Mr. Kumara and Mr. Amarasiri of the school staff. The blood bank was from General Hospital in Ampara in Sri Lanka. Which is one of the best hospitals in the Asian region. More than sixty people donated the blood freely. There was a small opening ceremony on this event. The doctor in charge of the section, nurses, principals, staff,parents and the children opened the camped by lightening the traditional oil lamp. The Buddhist religious event was conducted by the Hon. Principal thero of the Hasalaka Buddhist religious school and the chief incumbent of the Wilethigoda and the Hamanawa royal temples. The thero further expressed the importance of such activities in the village level. The principal said that the importance of such programs to develop the emotional happiness of the children. The children and the teachers of the school has organized the event with enthusiastically. The teachers cooed the meal for the staff of the Ampara General Hospital. There was special foods in the remote Sri Lanka like “Kurakkan thalapa” and the jack curry. Desert was milk and honey. The officials of the hospital emphasized the importance of this event to fullfill scarecity of the blood in the eastern Ampara General Hospital. Because most people are not willing to donate blood in this paddy season the the eastern Sri Lanka.
